• Eddie Gilbert

  Director

  Eddie Gilbert joined the EMA staff in 2010 and has completed training through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Alabama Emergency Management Agency, Alabama Department of Public Health, Tennessee Valley Authority, and National Weather Service. He is also a member of the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers.

  Eddie oversees the emergency management program, ensuring personnel, equipment, and facilities remain prepared to respond to all hazards. He provides leadership and operational oversight during emergencies and coordinates regular drills and exercises to evaluate response capabilities and ensure emergency plans are effective.

• Trent Simon

  Emergency Management Officer

  Trent Simon joined the EMA staff in October 2021, bringing prior emergency management experience from another county. He is a graduate of the University of North Alabama and FEMA’s Basic Academy. His training includes FEMA, AEMA, the Department of Homeland Security, the Alabama Department of Public Health, the National Weather Service, and the Alabama Fire College. Trent serves on a committee with the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers (AAEM) and as Secretary/Treasurer of the North Alabama Mutual Aid Association (NAMAA).

  Trent develops emergency response plans, oversees the Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP) program for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, manages TVA budget funds, prepares agency reports, and supports the EMA Director.

• Caleb King

  Emergency Management Officer

  Caleb King joined the EMA staff in October 2023 after serving in several roles with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, most recently as a School Resource Officer. He has completed training through FEMA, the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, the Alabama Department of Public Health, the National Weather Service, and the Alabama Fire College. He is a member of the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers.

  Caleb oversees mitigation activities, including grant applications and administration, and manages public information for routine operations and emergencies. He also prepares budget requests, administers the EMA budget, prepares agency reports, and supports the Director.

Emergency Operations Center

The Limestone County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is the central point for coordinating disaster response and recovery in Limestone County and its jurisdictions. It gives decision makers one place to work together, so communication and coordination are faster and more effective.

EOC capabilities include:

• Emergency backup generator
• Water and sanitation facilities to support emergency operations
• Radio communications interoperability with local, state, and federal agencies
• Telephone systems and phone bank capabilities for emergency coordination
• Primary internet connectivity with redundant connectivity
• Technology and audiovisual resources to support situational awareness, information sharing, and operational coordination
• Emergency management software and reporting systems
• Sleeping quarters to support extended and 24-hour operations
• Kitchen facilities to support personnel during extended operations
• Conference room for briefings, planning, and coordination meetings
